HOW TO CREATE YOUR BLANKET:
It's quite simple, here are the steps-

STEP 1) Get the photo, or digital art image, that you want to use
Obtain a clear, sharp image of the art or photo you want to use. This is probably the most challenging step for most folks, as so many images we see on our phones or which are texted to us, are too small for us to use. If it's a photo from a smartphone, we usually need the original sized image, which should typically be between 1 and 5 MB in size, but could be larger. Anything smaller than 1 MB might not work, unless it's 'vector art'.
(Vector art is created in a program such as Illustrator, and is specifically designed to be scaled up in size without any loss of clarity. This type of image is usually created by an artist/designer/illustrator, and is NOT the kind of image you get from your smartphone.)
The sharpness of the image is also very important, as it's practically impossible for us to weave a nice clear image in a blanket, if it's based on a blurred image to start with.
But don't sweat the small stuff - after we've received your image with your order, our art department will make any required minor corrections to it, and scale & crop it in order to fit the format of the blanket size you have chosen (small, medium or large).
Then, before we send your blanket in to production, we will email you a mock-up image of the blanket that you've ordered, and ask for your approval of the design. And if there is any problem with your image that we can't easily fix, we'll email you with some ideas on how to correct the problem.
How to create a digital image file from an existing "hard copy" art piece or a printed photo:
If you need to create a digital image from an original printed photo or a printed piece of art, your easiest way to do it is to scan your photo or artwork on the flatbed scanner of your printer-scanner, if the image will fit. (Most 'all-in-one' printers today have a scanner 'bed' on the top, exactly for this purpose. If you've never scanned an image before, this short YouTube video (opens in a new window) will get you started on Mac or Windows.
If the image is too large to be scanned, or if you don't have a scanner, then take a clear, well-lit, very sharp photo of it with a good quality smart phone or digital camera, taking care to avoid reflections in the image, and then use that image as the upload file on this order page.
STEP 2) Place your order!
Now that you've got your image ready, on this page, use the above selection options to -
- Select the size of the blanket that you would like (our Medium 50" x 60" is our most popular, and the large 60" x 80" will cover a queen sized bed),
- Select the Yes/No option to include your own words on your blanket, or not. If you choose to add your own words, they'll be carefully over-layed on top of your image, in a position that does not detract from the main focus of the picture. One line, max 20 characters incl spaces.
- Upload the photo or image file that you would like to use for your blanket (if you don't upload an image, you won't be able to complete your order).
Note - if our art department created an image for you before you placed your order, then use the mock-up file that we emailed you, for your upload file.
- Select how you want the photo oriented on your blanket - vertically or horizontally.
- Confirm that you own the copyright to the image, or have permission from the owner for this purpose.
- Click the "Add to Cart" button and follow the checkout prompts. You can order multiple copies of your blanket on the next shopping cart page.
And that's it, your order is placed!
What happens next?
- After we receive your order, our art department checks your image and makes any minor changes as required. We'll contact you if we have any problems processing your image.
- We then email you a digital mock-up of your blanket, where you will see exactly how your design is laid out. Please be sure to read our FAQ's about how colors are interpreted in our weaving process.
- Only after we receive your emailed approval of your design, do we charge your credit or debit card, and then send your custom blanket in to production. For that reason, coupled with our satisfaction guarantee, your order is 100% risk free.
- Your blanket is woven by our master weavers, checked by our quality control team, and shipped to you via USPS Priority Mail (your order includes free shipping throughout the lower USA!). You'll receive an email from us with your tracking number when it ships, usually within 7 to 10 business days of your blanket going into production.
