Custom Designed Blankets
What are the requirements for a custom image upload?
For best results, the minimum file size is 500kb. Files submitted under 500kb may not be usable, though we'll do our best to help. The larger the image, the better the it'll appear on your final blanket.
If someone texted you an image, you can be sure it's too small, as all texted images get automatically reduced in size before being sent. Instead, ask the sender to email you the image at the max resolution/size possible, then use that image for uploading with your order.
The specific dimensions are:
Large: 80” x 60” blanket: 7680 x 5760 pixels at 96dpi
Medium (most popular, typical throw size): 60” x 50” blanket: 5760 X 4800 pixels at 96dpi
Small: 52” x 37” blanket: 4992 X 3552 pixels at 96dpi
Uploaded artwork should be in a JPG, PNG, EPS, SVG, or high-res PDF file format.
Can you do the design for me?
Absolutely! If you need a bit of help handling the design aspect of things we're happy to put our skills to use to help bring your vision to life. Our standard design fee is $49 per design, which meets most customer needs and includes one revision after you've received it for review.
Will the colors in the blanket be exactly the same as the colors in the photo I send you?
Essentially, yes! Neon colors and ultra-bright tones are the only colors we can't reliably render. If we see your design has these colors, we'll reach out to discuss your options. Aside from neons, though, we generally find that the overall blanket design is very close to the original image, despite sometimes being a bit more muted due to the nature of the weaving process. Can I use a design with neon colors?
Unfortunately, neon colors are not producable with the thread colors we have available to us. We can work with you to convert the neon colors into tones that we know can be reliably produced in a blanket, or we can chat with you about your other options.
Are there any restrictions on the types of designs you'll make?
We reserve the right to refuse orders that feature a design or photo containing content of an offensive nature, including but not necessarily limited to racist, sexist, antisemitic, or offensive content. Your order will be fully refunded.
Products
Are the designs on your blankets & throws printed onto the fabric, or are they woven into the fabric itself?
At CustomWovenBlankets.com, all our blankets and throws feature images that are woven into the fabric itself. There is no 'printing' process involved at all. The original digital image is converted into a weaving process which then creates the image within the warp & weft threads of the actual fabric. This process has many advantages, and some limitations.
The advantages are that the image can never be rubbed or washed off, and the color pigments in the fabric will almost never fade — provided it isn’t left outdoors under bright sun for a few years! The weaving process also produces an image that some customers say has the look and feel of a timeless tapestry. The cotton fibers create the image itself, instead of it being painted or printed onto the fabric, which is how many “photo blankets” are produced.
However, this process is not without its drawbacks. Color matching can be a bit limited, because the range of possible thread colors is limited. (Bright neons, for example, are extremely difficult to produce.) Therefore, woven blankets and throws can sometimes be more muted in color than the original image. Why is the white not “pure white” in the blankets?
As explained above, colors are created from available threads. It isn't possible to have only white threads running in both directions on the loom, so “pure white” in an image renders as slightly off-white in a woven blanket. See some of the closeup images of the White Tiger to see what we mean.
Do you offer any guarantee on your products?
Absolutely! We offer a 100% 30-day Money Back Guarantee for any manufacturing defects. If the return is a result of our error, we’ll even pay the return shipping costs. For non-defective products, our policy is as follows:
Standard Non-Personalized Items:
We offer a 30 day no-questions-asked return policy, and will refund 100% of your original purchase price excluding return shipping. All we ask is that the item is in 'like new' condition and not stained or damaged in any way.
Personalized/Custom Items:
Please give us a buzz at (703) 239-3415; we want you to be delighted with your order and will do all we can to make that happen. That said, we can't be held responsible for incorrect customization information input by a purchaser. Please double check for any spelling errors!
What is your return policy?
Non-Personalized Items:
If your product does not have a manufacturing defect but you still wish to return it, we offer a 100% 30-day money-back guarantee for non-personalized items, excluding return shipping. All we ask is that the item should be returned in 'like new' condition and not stained or damaged in any way. See below for how to start a return claim.
Custom/Personalized Items:

Refund Payment Timeframe:
Refunds are typically paid out within 10 business days of receiving your return, if not sooner.
What are your blankets made of?
All our blankets are woven with 100% all-natural pure cotton thread. They're lightweight yet still have a nice heft that speaks to their quality.
Where are your blankets made?
All our blankets are made right here in the USA, with a supply chain that supports a living wage and our local economy.
How do I care for my blanket?
Machine wash in cold water on gentle or delicate cycle. It's best to air dry, but you can tumble dry on low if you need to. Please do not use bleach or harsh washing salts like OxiClean.
What sizes of blankets are available?
We offer our cozy throws in three different sizes:
Large: 80” x 60”, which covers a queen-sized bed.
Medium: 60” x 50”, our most popular size and typical for throw blankets.
Small: 52” x 37”, best suited for children, pets, or used as a lap/travel blanket.
Order Processing & Shipping
How much is shipping?
Any shipping method that costs $11 or less will be automatically made FREE at checkout! This typically covers USPS Priority Mail shipping to the lower 48 states for an order of 1 or 2 blankets.
If you're shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, or internationally (or have more than 2 blankets in your order) simply use code SHIPITREALGOOD to get an $11 discount on your shipping method of choice.
How long does it take to get my blanket?
Production time is usually 5-7 business days plus whatever shipping time you choose at checkout, so generally you should receive your blanket in ~10 business days from date of order.
Can you ship internationally?
Yes! Everywhere except the European Union; unfortunately, the extremely strict GPSR regulations make it difficult for small family businesses like us to comply.
All available shipping methods and prices will appear at checkout.
Do you collect duties/customs fees/VAT at checkout?
No; international customers are responsible for paying any duties, taxes, or customs fees owed at the port of entry. Custom Woven Blankets is not responsible for parcels returned to sender due to failure to pay and refunds will not be provided.

Where are you located?
We are a family business located in Northern Virginia, and every blanket we sell is woven by master weavers right here in the USA.
Are you really a family business?
Yep! Bit of a dying breed, but here we are. It's just me (Grace), my husband (Garrett), and my Dad (Paul), working away from our home office. If you call us, you might hear our dogs (Chief Morale Officers Luna and Nyx).
